All Squared Away

This painting has all my favorite colors. Did I go overboard? That's okay. It brought back how I felt when I began to make quilts when I was a teenager. I was always cutting up stuff and sewing it together -- my dad's ties for example -- and I was always in a hurray so nothing really lined up the way it should. My mother never learned to sew, and my home-ec teacher had tried her best but failed. In my bedroom alone with my sewing machine, I was free to err. (I did turn out a few nice quilts eventually.) But now I'm a painter now and I still like putting shapes together and my mess is totally intentional and fun.
