Been There, Done That
My best paintings are often made on top of finished paintings that don't, as Marie Kondo says, spark joy once I've lived with them for a while. This was one such painting. You can still see the edges of the painting underneath. I think this adds to the painting's story and is probably how the name, "Been There, Done That" occurred to me. Not everything I try works out in art any more than in the rest of my life. But when I get depressed about missteps or mistakes, bold colors tend to cheer me up. Color is an excellent antidepressant!
