On A Clear Day

I painted this on Matinicus Island in Maine, twenty-two miles off the coast from Rockland.
Over the three days I worked on it, I had a day so clear the horizon was knife-sharp. The next day, the fog was so thick I couldn't see fifteen feet out (and the air service couldn't bring my husband's plumbing parts).
On the third day, we expected more fog, so when it cleared in the afternoon, it was a special gift and I finished pulling the last of the tape off on the deck, and I stayed out until thick clouds started rolling in for what's predicted to bring high seas and rain. There's no leaving the island by air or boat for the next couple of days. That's okay, I've still got paint.
This is my second star on a background of raw birch. I like the look! You can see the first one here.
