There's a painting with all triangles under this one that I made in 2019. The triangles were colorful and precisely made using tape. I like being precise, but without even thinking about it, I grabbed that painting on December 22, 2023 and painted this one over it. I didn't have a plan. I just painted almost like I was in a trance or on automatic pilot. This happens to me from time to time. I have to break loose from the restrictions I have put on myself.

What I didn't realize at the time was that this painting was the beginning of a revolt by my star shape. For me it is a shape that always seems like a character or, in this case, a group of characters. It's begun to want more space and more freedom. After this painting, four more quickly followed. 

 

I think it's a very fun painting. It combines all the shapes I've been obsessed with the last few years. Here's a reel if you want to see how it was made.
